Longmire/MLK Classic

The Michael Wade Longmire Leadership Scholarship Foundation proudly hosted the first annual Longmire/MLK Classic basketball tournament during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend in January. The event brought together student-athletes, families, and community members from across Florida for a weekend centered on competition, unity, and opportunity. The tournament served not only as a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of leadership and community empowerment, but also as a fundraiser to support scholarships for deserving high school students. Through the support of attendees, sponsors, and participating schools, the event helped further the foundation’s mission of investing in the next generation of leaders both on and off the court.

Several talented high school programs participated in this year’s classic, including Pensacola High School, Rickards High School, Miramar High School, FAMU DRS, Orange Park High School, FT. Walton High School, Crossroads Academy, Miami Central, Florida High, Suwannee, Bay High school, and Godby High School. Each team delivered outstanding performances and displayed remarkable sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Fans filled the gym with energy and support as athletes showcased their dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The Longmire/MLK Classic once again proved to be more than just a basketball tournament — it was a meaningful community event that united people together while creating scholarship opportunities for student-athletes striving for success in their academic and athletic journeys.
